John Deere Classic DFS value plays
Some of the Worlds best golfers are set to tee it up in Rio on Thursday, some are having a well-earned break and the rest, well they are competing in the John Deere Classic!
We’ve scoured the world’s DFS websites and come up with our best PGA DFS value plays on a weekend where the true Golf fans should shine.
This weekend we are looking for guys who can stick shots close to the pin from inside of 150 yards, it should be a wedge fest.
Zach Johnson is a well deserved warm favourite given his exceptional record here but he is unlikely to represent much value in terms of DFS for us this weekend with his ownership levels set to be very high. The old hawk Steve Stricker won this very event three times in a row (2009,10,11) and is playing well enough to be an option this weekend although priced at a premium on most sites.
The weather shouldn’t be too bad over the weekend with the scheduled thunderstorms out of the way by Saturday morning.
So, here are some guys to consider!
Bargain basement
Sam Saunders ($6,300 on DraftKings)
Saunders is in the best form he’s been in for quite some time. He’s followed four missed cuts starting in mid-April with a T34, T21, T9, T8, 75 and a T148 last week at the Travelers Championship. He’ll relish getting back up against this ‘soft field’ and has proven he can fill it up on the weaker PGA courses. He sits 69th on the Tour in putting (most above him aren’t playing this week) and inside the Top 100 for a couple of other key metrics around approaching the green. He looks an excellent value play and can hopefully slide under the radar for us!
Mid-ranger
John Senden ($8,400 on DraftKings)
Priced considerably cheaper on DraftKings than he is on FanSports in Australia. Senden is a rock solid player in rock solid form. He’d have taken plenty of confidence from his T20 at the PGA Championship and is well suited to the course and conditions this weekend. Senden is a laser inside of 150 yards, a birdie maker (53rd on tour) and an above average putter. We expect on this US and UK based platform his ownership will be low and he looks a very nice play in GPP and also a great T20 bet at around $3.50 for those looking for a wager.
Anchor
Jon Rahm ($7,600 on FanSports)
Although he is not in the price range of a traditional anchor he is most certainly a throw-away the key ANCHOR for any Australian’s playing FanSports PGA contests this weekend. He’s made six straight cuts since he burst onto the scene with a 23rd at the US Open. Third at Congressional, 52nd at Barracuda, 59th at The open, 2nd at the Canadian Open and an honest 25th last week in Connecticut. If you aren’t building around his $7,600 salary you are simply missing out. Rahm is third-favourite to win the tournament but once again buried away in the cheap seats with FanSports. He was solid last week without being outstanding, but at this price range, how can you ignore him?
