The Woot and Wye Show – Week 13 Recap
Woot and Wye Episode 165 – Re-evaluating the Lions, Bucs and Ravens
We are less than two months away from Super Bowl 51 and Episode 165 of The Woot and Wye Show jumps into all the play off altering action of Week 13 in the National Football League.
We open the show looking at the impact Earl Thomas’ injury has on the Seattle Defense and what it means for them long term when they face powerhouse offenses like the Dallas Cowboys.
We are truly baffled by the Rams giving Jeff Fisher a contract extension (but not as baffled as him looking for a challenge flag) but Wye has an idea to make him somehow useful in the NFL.

We then clash heads over Ron Rivera’s decision to bench Cam Newton over a tie. Wye thinks it is the dumbest thing of the entire NFL season while Woot thinks it was the right decision because even a reigning MVP in Cam Newton is not bigger than the team.

The main event of the episode was re-examining the Detroit Lions, the Baltimore Ravens & the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. All three have been very impressive over the last month and put an exclamation point on it with comprehensive victories over strong opponents. All three teams were viewed as very lucky or flawed teams early in the season but have managed to cover up their weaknesses and show that they are genuine playoff contenders. In the case of the Ravens, they are legitimate Super Bowl candidate.

Now that the Ravens offense has decided to show up and play, they are definitely a Super Bowl contender.
We finish the show previewing Week 14’s Thursday Night Football blockbuster between the Oakland Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs. The last time they met the Chiefs won the match 26-10 on the back of Spencer Ware, who had a
The last time they met the Chiefs won the match 26-10 on the back of Spencer Ware, who had a career-high of 131 yards. Since then the Raiders haven’t lost a game, covering five of six against the spread. The player to watch in this one is Khalil Mack who has been a
The player to watch in this one is Khalil Mack who has been a one-man wrecking crew over the last few weeks. We have both taken the Chiefs (-3) at home on a short week but are not confident at all going against the Raiders.

Woot and Wye Episode 163 – The Wild Wild AFC West and Seattle’s Kryptonite
Episode 163 of The Woot and Wye Show is the first of the Australian Summer and it is going to be a long summer if we are already complaining about the excessive heat!
After a few minutes of weather hot takes and whinging we jump back into football.

Some crucial injury news headlined our Week 12 look around the NFL. We discuss the impact of Desmond Trufant’s injury on Atlanta’s playoff hopes, with Woot suggesting it could even go as far as cost them the division. He still believes the Saints can rally home.
Both Woot and Wye don’t trust the New England Patriots’ injury report so it is hard to properly assess the injury to Rob Gronkowski. We do know this though: the Patriots offense is nowhere near as potent without him.
You just have to look at the splits of Tom Brady with Rob Gronkowski and without Rob Gronkowski to show his importance and value to this team.
We round up the news talking Terrelle Pryor, Brandin Cooks, Marcus Cannon & John Harbaugh before moving into the more important takeaways from the Week 12 action. As the title of the podcast suggests, we look at the
As the title of the podcast suggests, we look at the wild, wild AFC West in all its glory. The division is insanely LIT with three genuine contenders in the AFC.

Another major talking point from Week 12 was Seattle’s 14-5 defeat at the hands of Mike Evans, Jameis Winston and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Noah Spence, Gerald McCoy & Robert Ayers ended the lives of George Fant & Germain Ifedi while notching up six sacks on an often elusive Russell Wilson.
Wilson felt pressure on 23 of his dropbacks and finished with just 2 completions from 13 attempts under duress. While we fully expect the Seahawks to get back on track and be a dominant force in the playoff picture, this offensive line is a legitimate concern and an anchor holding them back.
We didn’t talk about this but Aaron Donald is baaaad man:

Other discussion points from Episode 163 include the elimination of the Bengals, Panthers & Cardinals from the playoff race, Colin Kaepernick’s future in San Francisco and Justin Tucker’s impressive boot & swagger.

The Woot and Wye Show Episode 159: Romo’s Presser, Goff’s Debut & Week 11 Preview
Episode 159 of The Woot and Wye Show opens with plenty of chatter about the best games from Week 10. We missed our usual podcast scheduling during the week so we finally got to share our thoughts on a phenomenal weekend of football. We talk about the game of the year between the Steelers and Cowboys and question the Patriots defensive efforts.
As always we discuss the latest happenings from around the league and the topic on everyone’s minds is Tony Romo. We dissect his press conference and discuss what the future holds for the elite quarterback. We also chat Alshon Jeffery’s suspension and Christine Michael’s bizarre career in Seattle.

Like every show we analyze and preview all the Week 11 games using the NFL lines as a starting point. Our lines are officially brought to you by William Hill Australia. The highlight of the Week 11 slate includes the DVOA Super Bowl as Philadelphia and Seattle battle for Football Outsiders number 1 DVOA ranking,
In looking at the Buffalo vs Cincinnati game, we explain why we expect a monster showing from AJ Green. Green leads all receivers in plays of 30+ yards and he faces a Buffalo pairing in Ronald Darby and Stephon Gilmore that are allowing the 1st and 2nd highest % of 30+ yard plays per target in the NFL.
As always, we finish the show with our William Hill lock of the Week. Woot loves Seattle (-6.5) against his beloved Philadelphia Eagles and Wye likes the Kansas City Chiefs (-7) at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Woot and Wye Show: Week 10 NFL Preview
The Woot and Wye Show Episode 158: Dinosaurs, Orange, Flacco & Week 10 Preview
The 158th episode of the Woot and Wye Show starts with some chatter about my co-host, Josh Wootton’s trip to Orange over the weekend to see comedian Arj Barker. After repeated attempts by Woot to relay some of Arj Barker’s best material we move on to recapping Thursday Night Football.
The Week 10 Thursday Night football game didn’t tell us anything new about those two teams. We knew that Cleveland are a bad football team and well on their way to 0-16. We also knew that the Ravens are very flawed division leader and that Joe Flacco is certainly not elite this season (has he ever been?).
Before previewing the remaining slate of games we discuss Randy Gregory’s latest indiscretion and the likelihood that he never plays a snap in the NFL again, William Hayes Jurassic adventure and Bill Belichick’s wonderful press conference game this week and his focus on “Seattle.”
Like all our preview podcasts the starting point for all game analysis starts with the weekly lines, brought to you by William Hill Australia. Week 10 has some really interesting games headlined by a Super Bowl XLIX rematch in primetime.
All the signs point to a Patriots victory with them being well rested after a bye week while the Michael Bennett-less Seahawks travel across the country on a short week. During the last four seasons, the Patriots are 23-2 at home when Tom Bray is the starter and he has never had a more potent offense surrounding him. Like the Bills did last week, we expect the Patriots to put up a lot of points even against a linebacker combo (KJ Wright & Bobby Wagner) that matches up quite well against Rob Gronkowski and Martellus Bennett.
Tom Brady is 23-2 at home over the past four seasons
The key for Seattle is through the air. Seattle still cannot run the ball effectively and they may not want to against the Patriots 5th ranked DVOA run defense. Russell Wilson will have to carry over his Week 9 performance into this game and attack the Patriots 26th ranked DVOA pass defense. We both learnt early this season not to doubt Bill Belichick at home and have picked the Patriots to cover the 7.5 spread in this one.
