2017 proved to be a solid SuperCoach season for our Fantasy Stars team. We finished 343rd out of a total of 207,085 coaches in Australia.
Our average SuperCoach score each Round was 2208 and we used all of our trades for the season.
Our total team value ended up at $13,759,400.00
Funnily enough, the poor performing Heath Shaw ended the season as our ‘worst player’ for the round (23).
We got lucky with injuries and team news for the majority of 2017 and were able to build a strong squad with good depth down the stretch that enabled us to make up ground in terms of overall ranking in the last 8-10 rounds.
Our team (below) was star-studded and we were able to avoid the dreaded donut score all season long.
What went wrong?
Daniel Hannebery – DH had a slow start to the season and after paying up big we took our medicine and traded him out after Sydney’s slow start to the season.
Heath Shaw – The once ultra premium SuperCoach defender looked human this year. He seems to be playing more of a ‘role’ on the Giants team that has some quality young running backs.
What went right?
The Ruck – Between Sandilands, Nankervis and Darcy the boys served us well until the back part of the season when we brought in Max Gawn and Stef Martin to finish the job.
Hibberd and Docherty – Two dashing defenders for two teams that missed out on the finals. Boy were they both consistent this season!
That Midfield! – We stacked the midfield from the outset and were rewarded. Dangerfield was the pillar who just continually set the standard as captain (most of the time), Dustin had what looks to be a Brownlow winning season and Tom Mitchell was ultra consistent for the Hawks in his first season at Glenferrie.
