The big news out of the United States this morning is that the two DFS powerhouses FanDuel and DraftKings have announced a merger. See below for more details on the FanDuel DraftKings merger.
It’s been well publicized that the two daily fantasy powerhouses have been in merger talks for many months now but it seems today that the deal is done and things are finally official.
FanDuel and DraftKings sealed the deal and started by emailing their databases today with the following information to inform users of the news and what they can expect from the website and its services going forward.
From DraftKings
Today, we are excited to inform you that DraftKings and FanDuel have reached a merger agreement.
At DraftKings, we have always worked hard to bring the thrill of fantasy sports competition to you, in order to fulfill our goal of making your experience as a sports fan better than you ever imagined. With this merger, we hope to further accelerate our investments in product innovation, promotions, and a high-quality customer experience.
This announcement will not impact your immediate experience playing fantasy sports with DraftKings, as the transaction is not officially closed. You will continue to receive the same access to our contests, customer support, offers and experiences that you have become accustomed to. Consider it business as usual.
Loyalty from our players has been the most critical element of DraftKings’ success over the past four years, and our team remains committed to continuing to improve. We want to keep hearing your ideas for how we can make DraftKings better. It will remain our mission to make your sports experience more thrilling, and our hope is that completing this merger will strengthen and enhance our ability to bring you the highest quality experience in fantasy sports and sports entertainment.

Sincerely,
Jason Robins, Paul Liberman, and Matt Kalish
DraftKings Co-Founders
DraftKings CEO Jason Robins said the following in a phone interview to the Wall Street Journal today
“Neither company has been able to invest as much as we want to in a vast array of innovative ideas,”
“We really do share a common vision and really do have a boatload of ideas.”
It is believed that by merging the companies can find a clearer path to profitability by consolidating resources and building a more effective and efficient business plan.
Prize pools should continue to be substantial and if anything, innovation and cool new features look to be just around the corner.
Message from FanDuel
We have some exciting news to share with you. Today, FanDuel and DraftKings announced they entered into a merger agreement. We believe that this deal will allow us to combine the best of both companies to better serve the fantasy sports community and provide you, our customers, an even better user experience.
We are very excited about the transaction and believe that combining our talent, technology, industry relationships, and resources with DraftKings will help us deliver a better and more exciting product to our players and fans. The deal allows us to invest in new products and services while leveraging our combined resources to bring you even more games, contests and offerings than are currently available.
As you know, both FanDuel and DraftKings are still relatively new companies and operate in a rapidly evolving and changing space. By combining and streamlining resources, we can accelerate work with government officials to continue to seek legal clarity to enable the continued growth of the industry.
While we can’t answer all the questions you may have right now, we do want to address what we can here:
1) With NFL, NBA and NHL seasons well underway, both sites will remain operational through the conclusion of the current seasons, and you can continue to play on FanDuel like you have always done. As we look forward to future seasons and beyond, we plan to bring together the best of each platform to better serve you.
2) This deal will not have an impact on our contests, prizes, and offerings. We will continue to provide you with the same quality of contests you’ve become accustomed to.
3) Our live events will go on as planned. Our World Fantasy Football Championship is just around the corner and we will still be hosting our annual Playboy Football Championship. For those that have not yet participated in these events, this is your year. Check them out at www.fanduel.com/wffc or www.fanduel.com/playboy-football.
We will keep you updated with developments as they become available and thank you for your continued support.
