Fresh from Fantasy Stars: Our Moneyball NBA thoughts for April 7th
Overall thoughts on the slate of games
We are still reeling from Jimmy Butler’s ‘worst game ever’ yesterday on a day where our other picks were pretty solid it stopped us from collecting at least a small chunk.
Eight games to play with today which creates plenty of variance.
The Clippers play the Lakers again (Kobe’s last game vs the Clips). There are a few uninspiring games and then some crucial ones for playoff seeds.
Vucevic will come off the bench again for the Magic and Batum is questionable for Charlotte.
JJ Barea will start again with Deron Williams still sidelined indefinitely.
We’ll try and stay away from those ‘dead rubber’ games as much as possible!

Players to consider
Point Guard
Russell Westbrook (Oklahoma City) $11,000
It’s a really tough day to spend up big with any confidence so we’ve got a little Westbrook narrative to help give us some confidence. He is just one triple-double shy of equally Magic Johnson’s single-season record. Russ is an LA guy who went to College at UCLA and he is a competitive beast. We think he will try and equal the record tonight and come out swinging in a high scoring game against the Blazers. He’s also proven over the stretch he doesn’t need a lot of minutes to score really well.

Shooting Guard
Victor Oladipo (Orlando) $7,800
Three consecutive scores above 40 for ‘Dipo. He is just so consistent and has only scored below 24 fantasy points twice since the start of February! On a night where we are taking a few flyers and expect some up and down scores we are more than happy to anchor the squad with someone of Victor’s consistency.
Small Forward
Luke Babbitt (New Orleans) $4,200
We circled him a few weeks ago as an important fantasy player to nail down the stretch as he can be a high volume shooter on an awful Pelicans team. Only two scores below 20 in his past eight games and the potential to get hot from the perimeter makes him a nice option tonight.
Power Forward
Derrick Williams ( New York) $3,800
Williams looks close to the Fantasy Stars NBA play of the day. He’s got a solid floor for his price and really high ceiling. He’s also blowout proof to a degree because the Knicks will rest other players before they do Williams. He’s down to start tonight and our numbers have him scoring close to 30 fantasy points.
Centre
Alexis Ajinca (New Orleans) $3,800
There is a stack of cheap options as centre tonight and Ajinca is the one that has the highest floor so we’ll have the highest ownership on him. He’s scored above 30 fantasy points in two of his last seven and above 20 in six of his last seven. He also has a pretty good matchup against the Celtics and a double-digit rebound game awaits.
