Fresh from Fantasy Stars: Our Moneyball NBA thoughts for Monday the 7th March.
Overall thoughts on the slate of games
Tricky card with only three games to work with. Ownership is going to be high and tactics really do come into it. How many of your 9 roster spots will be ‘unique’ picks?
We are on blowout watch in the Philadelphia game as per usual while the Pistons theoretically should restrict the Trailblazers to a score below their usual. Keep that in mind when projecting Lillard and McCollum particularly.
Houston are on a back-to-back, coming off a tough loss in Chicago but are deep in a playoff battle so we expect them to be full-steam again today with not much chance of a late Harden scratching.

Players to consider
Point Guard
Kyle Lowry (Toronto) $9,700
You’ve got to spend your cash somewhere, why not the Raptors wrecking ball Kyle Lowry. We have him scoring 45 fantasy points today which is actually 8 points below his Moneyball form. He has been super consistent and has scored 44 or higher in four of his last five games. He plays against his old team the Houston Rockets today and he’ll be as aggressive as always!
Shooting Guard
Dwyane Wade (Miami) $6,200
D-Wade has cracked 40+ points in three of his last four games and is relishing being the lone alpha-dog in South Beach while Bosh recovers from a health scare. His usage rates are high and his Moneyball price still hasn’t caught up to where it needs to be. Terrific match-up against the awful 76ers today and if he shoots well he’ll go x5 production once again.

Small Forward
Robert Covington (Philadelphia) $5,200
He’s got big upside today, in three of his last five games he’s delivered x7 or more production. The 76ers are a circus of new players, injuries, rested players and everything in between. Covington though looks a lock to play 30+ minutes and has averaged 23 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block against the Miami Heat this season. He has also played an average of 36 minutes per game against the Heat this season.
Power Forward
Luis Scola (Toronto) $3,500
Veteran forward Luis Scola is in the Toronto starting lineup today and makes for a nice bargain option. We’ve got him scoring 19 fantasy points today and we are happy to take that x5 production and use our cash on some bigger fish.
Centre
Hassan Whiteside (Miami) $8,800
Hassan has spent time coming off the bench for the Miami Heat but it hasn’t affected his fantasy production. In fact, with no Chris Bosh it seems as though Whiteside has become an even better rebounder. He is averaging 16.6 points, 14 rebounds and a massive 4 blocks per game in his last five games. Blowout is a little bit scary but the thin Miami frontcourt means that someone is going to have to stay on the court. Hopefully Philly keep it close none the less.
