Fresh from Fantasy Stars: Our Moneyball NBA Bank thoughts for Monday the 29th February.
Overall thoughts on the slate of games
Focusing in on the 10 am and later games for today which form the NBA Moneyball bank.
Miami v New York is clearly the lowest total of the slate and a game (197 points) you should proceed with caution on.
Minnesota v Dallas should be a high scoring contest but the T’Wolves are coming off a back-to-back so need to factor that into projections as well.
Two of the top three options at centre are coming off back to backs in fact and the options at Power Forward are pretty bleak. Not one single option on the board that averages 30 fantasy points or above.
There isn’t a player priced any higher than Damien Lillard at $9,900 making it an even card with lots of 50-50 decisions to be made. Check out our thoughts below!

Players to consider
Point Guard
Ricky Rubio (Minnesota) $7,100
Rubio is a bit of a random pick here but we like him for a few different reasons. A nice high total projected in the game, he’s averaging x5 production over his last four games and Deron Williams is playing hurt (see below). Minny are coming off a back to back and they’ll be reliant on the little Spaniard to control the offense and get everyone their shots more than usual. It feels like a 10 point, 15 assists and fries game from Rubio on a tricky night for guards.
** If you are considering, like we were Deron Williams just remember he is playing with a dislocated finger and there is a chance his field goal attempts will be down once again.
Shooting Guard
Dwyane Wade (Miami) $6,400
There are not any players that are tougher to get a read on than Wade (article on this coming very soon). He’s tortured me with his on again, off again efforts in the past but today on a pretty plain slate he looks an option you have to go with in a chunk of teams at least. High usage rates from Wade with Bosh out and he has taken over 20FG’s a game as well over his last three games. He has shot the ball poorly which has affected his numbers but he has a nice upside tonight given he is ‘due’ to have a hot shooting night soon.

Small Forward
P.George (Indiana) $9,200
On a night where many Moneyball NBA players will have trouble using all of their salary cap George stands out as a high-end option to go with. He’s averaging 26.4 points per game across his last five and his fantasy form is above x5 production which for an expensive option is very good. Main negative on him is he doesn’t have a great match-up today playing on Al-Farouq Aminu quite a bit.
Power Forward
Aaron Gordon (Orlando) $6,200
As we mentioned above it was a very lean night for Power Forwards and Gordon is clearly the number one play on the entire board for us. He has 8 straight games with at least 30 FP and will be pretty high ownership today, for good reason.
Centre
Nikola Vucevic (Orlando) $9,000
Another pricey option but on a night without many studs on the board you could do much worse. He feasts on the 76ers (35 points, 9 rebounds 52.8 fantasy points against them last week) as do most bigs in the NBA might we add. Highly underrated player who’s ownership isn’t often that high. It’s an absolute must-win for the Magic if they are to be any chance of sneaking into the playoffs as well. Take the points with Vuc tonight and look to save cash elsewhere.
