Fresh from Fantasy Stars: Our Moneyball NBA thoughts for Friday the 11th March.
Overall thoughts on the slate of games
Small slates are always tough to work out how to spend your salary cap. Tonight is no exception.
Two games have to be treated with caution as potential blowouts. The Suns were absolutely awful against the Knicks and even though the Nuggets are well below .500 they’ll be ready to feast on the struggling Suns.
Atlanta and Toronto is the game of the night but it’s not expected to be overly high scoring. A tight battle we don’t want to have too much exposure in.
Brandon Knight didn’t come into the game for the Suns against the Knicks last night and he should be treated with caution.
LeBron and the Cavaliers are playing on a back-to-back and had a pretty tough game against the Kings last night.

Players to consider
Point Guard
Derrick Rose (Chicago) $6,700
Risky pick considering the Spurs could swing Kawhi Leonard across to guard him but without Butler again tonight he has big upside. He will get all the minutes he can handle and field goal attempts will come with that. There is really no chance of the Bulls blowing out San AntonioĀ and Rose will get every opportunity to succeed today.
Shooting Guard
Devin Booker (Phoenix) $5,400
He’s still underpriced so we’ll keep playing him. He’s been playing great and seems have the green light from Suns coaching staff to keep shooting. At just 19 years old he’s a real player of the future, we are cashing in while he’s still below $6k! Check out his game logs over the past four games (below). That’s terrific value production for a guy priced at just $5,400.
Small Forward
Kawhi Leonard (San Antonio) $8,400
He’s been very consistent and has only scored below 30 fantasy points once in his last twelve games! On a night where James is on a back-to-back and potential blowout watch take the safe option and plug and play Kawhi for 35+ points.
Power Forward
Kenneth Faried (Denver) $6,900
One of the few times all season Faried has come up big on our numbers is today. He is in a rich vein a form with just one fantasy score below 26 in eight games. He also has a pretty high ceiling and has gone past 35 fantasy points in five of his last eight. With no Danilo Gallinari or Wilson Chandler today him and his rookie mate we are about to mention have plenty of upside!
Centre
Nikola Jokic (Denver) $6,100
Jokic is on fire at the moment, hovering around x6 production over his last three games. The Nuggets will push the pace on the tired Suns who are playing on a back-to-back and Jokic should feast once again. Alex Len also looks a good play once again today and we will have him in some lineups as well.
