Sandown Race 6 – Group 2 Sandown Guineas
Morton’s Fork is very short in the market after a luckless run on Caulfield Cup day followed by a good second against a potential superstar last start. He’s clearly the one to beat and should stay firm in the market. Jennifer Lynn won the fillies race on Caulfield Cup day and backed it up with a promising win over the Flemington Carnival. She is second pick but will need to improve to catch the Godolphin horse. The best of the horses at double figures on our ratings is #3 Ruthven for the Cairon Maher stable. He is lightly raced and has the most scope out of any of these horses to run a career best. He will need to however to catch the other two who are solid horses.
Sandown Race 7 – Group 2 Zipping Classic
We see a few horses backing up from the Emirates Melbourne Cup (3200m) in what looks to be a competitive affair. Almoonqith is flying this preparation and his run in the Melbourne Cup was every bit as good as Who Shot Thebarman. So Si Bon has a task taking on the other horses despite only carrying 50.5 kilos he looks a risk. Big Orange might lack the turn of foot to win a Melbourne Cup but we know he will be very strong through the line. We think he will improve sharply at his second run off the plane and looks suited by the lack of leaders in this race. He will make his own luck on the pace and be very hard to beat!
