Three games this Saturday as we tackle the last ‘bye’ weekend of the season. Check out our AFL fantasy preview below!
Richmond v Sydney 13:45 @ MCG
The Tigers have been one of the most consistent teams in the competition this year. They’ve competed in and or been within one goal of their opponents in the last five minutes of the game in all but one match.
The Swans must keep winning to stay in touch with the finals race and were very impressive in beating the Bulldogs last week.
The Betting Odds for the match
The projected match points total at Bet365 is 169.5 points
Game notes and fantasy angles
- The Tigers are one of the lowest possession grabbing teams in the competition – they play a long and direct style and although they are only playing with one true big forward for most of the season they do rank second for marks inside 50
- Both teams have struggled with disposal efficiency this year – expect the half backs of both teams to take lots of intercept marks
- Lance Franklin has been in scintillating form but will no doubt face extended periods of time against Alex Rance who’s the best key defender in the game at the moment. Be careful of being over exposed on either of them.
- Richmond FWD Sam Lloyd is our Moneyball contrarian DFS pick of the game at just $5,800

Port Adelaide v Brisbane 16:05 @ Adelaide Oval
Port Adelaide were one of the hottest teams in the AFL until their horror defeat to Essendon last week in Melbourne.
Back at home against arguably the worst team in the AFL and the public is expecting a big bounce back win.
The Betting Odds for the match
The projected match points total at Bet365 is 202.5 points
Game notes and fantasy angles
- Ken Hinkley dropped three Power players after last weeks loss (Pittard, Toumpas and Ah Chee) – look for players who might benefit from the extra opportunity or different roles this week
- The Power are a high-powered team who averages 103 points per game while the Lions average only 82 which ranks 17th in the AFL
- Lions young guns Barrett, McCluggage and Berry are all coming off big performances and are looking more comfortable at the top level. All are affordable DFS options.
- Lions midfielder Lewis Taylor is our Moneyball contrarian play of the game at $6,500

Gold Coast v Carlton 19:45 @ Metricon Stadium
Carlton are fresh off their best win of the season and one the best wins, in general, all year as they held on to defeat GWS in a thriller.
The Suns will go in as favourites in a match which has been a rarity in 2017 but they too are bringing some good form into the contest after defeating the Hawks and Eagles in consecutive games.
The Betting Odds for the match
The projected match points total at Bet365 is 170.5 points
Game notes and fantasy angles
- The Suns average 56 more disposals per game than the Blues. The Suns rank number one for disposals while the Blue baggers rank second last. Can Ablett go for 40?!
- When these two teams met in Round 4, Suns forward Tom Lynch booted seven goals while Gary Ablett Jnr had 34 disposals and one goal.
- Gary Ablett has scored below 100 Moneyball points just once all season and is coming off a huge 152 point performance against the Hawks last week
- Tom Lynch at $7,700 is our Moneyball contrarian pick for the match
Good luck over the weekend in your fantasy footy endeavours!
