Fresh from Fantasy Stars, our tips, hints and advice for Friday Night AFL DFS!
SUMMARY
Moneyball’s $5,000 bank (just a $10 entry) is a must!
In the single slate AFL contests participants need to average a little over 15x per player to be in contention.
Port Adelaide are $1.10 favourites for this clash and while blowout risk can be minimal in the AFL for defenders and midfielders particularly there is still an element of risk associated with stacking your side full of Dons.
The Dons have surprisingly been a solid fantasy team thus far. We are happy to take on that mantra tonight though and play a mostly Power dominated slate.
In their round two win over Melbourne, the Bombers had 128 more disposals, 71 more marks, eight more scoring shots and 15 more inside 50s!
TEAM NEWS
FANTASY STARS PLAYERS TO CONSIDER
FORWARDS
Jackson Merrett (Essendon) $4,800 Moneyball price
He is an Essendon forward but he does also accumulate possessions. He has started the season with 21 and 28 touches respectively and looks a good value play once again tonight. His form of x20+ is above what’s required normally and he’s too hard to ignore at the price.
Sam Gray (Port Adelaide) $5,900
Gray is another player who although listed as a forward is capable of stuffing the stat sheet in a number of ways. Evidenced perfectly by his 37 disposal effort against the Saints in Round 1. He was slightly down last week against the Crows only scoring 73 fantasy points but looks a good play tonight nonetheless.
**Charlie Dixon at $5,000 is another option here that has some decent upside and probably low ownership after a bad start to season.
RUCKS
Matthew Lobbe (Port Adelaide) $6,100
Keep it simple, Leuenberger might have the most upside in terms of value for the price but he also has a much lower floor. On a night where there are plenty of options for unique players play your wild card elsewhere. Lobbe is averaging 40 hit outs per game and has started the season well. On a night where the Power should dominate he’s the one to plug and play.
MIDS
Ollie Wines (Port Adelaide) $7,200
Wines had an interrupted 2015 where he battled a few injuries. He’s back better than ever and was very good against Adelaide last week. You know he’s always good for four or five tackles and plenty of contested ball. The Power midfield should run rampant tonight and we are happy to play him Gray and even Hartlett all together!
Robbie Gray (Port Adelaide) $7,600
He’s a Rolls Royce who has the upside of being a really strong goalkicker as well. Fantasy scores of 128 and 130 to start the season and tonight we expect Port Adelaide to be very hard to beat. How do you not play him?
DEFENDERS
Jasper Pittard (Port Adelaide) $6,000
Pittard’s run and carry across half back is a real barometer for the Power. We expect tonight he’ll have it all his own way and help himself to 25+ disposals. Essendon have a lot of ‘top-up’ players down back and it’s hard to get excited about many of them with confidence so Pittard is the safest pick on the board.
Mark Baguley (Essendon) $6,300
The highest priced Bomber defender is hardly a household name in Mark Baguley. In fact, the vast majority of casual fans wouldn’t realise Baguley is Essendon’s Vice Captain! He played every game in 2015 and is certainly a permanent fixture in the side now with all the holes created down back. We are still a bit worried about sinking into these top-up players and happy to take the lower risk option with Baguley.
