Five talking points
- Dangerzone? – Patrick Dangerfield has been named in the interim squad but looks set to be an emergency beleive it or not. It appears unlikely he will play tomorrow night. UPDATE: DANGERFIELD LOOKING LIKELY TO PLAY!
2. Bartel and the Selwood brothers will NOT play – Bartel is fit and well but now as he gets near the end of a brilliant career he’ll be nursed along. Supercoaches not the Cats mentioned they’ll rest him at times during the home and away season. Joel Selwood has had an injury interrupted preseason including plantar fasciitis in his right foot.
3. Ex-Greater Western Sydney midfielder Adam Treloar will not make his debut for the Pies
4. Magpie Brent Macaffer is set to play his first game since August 2014. Caff has had a fantastic pre-season,” Coach Nathan Buckley told the media. “In this first round, there are guys that have had huge load throughout pre-season that, we see this as an opportunity to potentially play half games.”Caff may be one of those.”
5. New Magpie James Aish ( ex-Brisbane) looks set make his debut for the Black and White after 32 games up North while former Blue Lachie Henderson looks set to line-up for the Cats.
Magpies midfield a fantasy sports goldmine
Consider these guys in your Moneyball DFS contests
Corey Gault *current emergency (Collingwood) $3,500
Gault is coming off a five-goal performance in their intra-club hitout and if he ends up getting a start could be a value option that you need to play. 22 years of age and obviously up and about. Watch for team news before lockout for a potential diamond DFS play!
Josh Caddy (Geelong) $7,200
No Selwoods or Bartel makes Caddy the top ranked Geelong midfield DFS prospect apart from Patrick Dangerfield. At 23, the former first round draft pick looks primed for a big year and seems a logical play for all types of Moneyball contests.
Lachie Henderson (Geelong) $5,100
Henderson is a player many fantasy players are interested in this season and for good reason! He should relish the change of scenery, getting back into a winning program and out of the Lygon St mess. He’s always had plenty of talent and with Tom Hawkins also deep in attack he might get the second defender on a weekly basis. Big watch!
