Fresh from Fantasy Stars, our tips, hints and advice for Friday Night AFL DFS!
SUMMARY AND TEAM NEWS
Moneyball’s $5,000 bank (just a $10 entry) is a must!
As we have mentioned before, to win the single slate AFL contests participants need to average a little over 15x per player.
The Eagles are red-hot favourites at home against a Richmond team who have been disappointing thus far in 2016. Although it’s worth noting that West Coast appear to be a couple of pegs short of their best and the bookies have the Tigers at almost 5-1! We are on upset watch at Fantasy Stars and recommend having some lineups that are at the least a 50-50 spread.
The selected teams are listed below. Brett Deledio is still out injured for the Tigers while Dustin Martin has been going to New Zealand to visit his Dad during the weeks so that’s something to keep in mind with him. Perhaps Hardwick will play him closer to goal tonight?
FANTASY STARS PLAYERS TO CONSIDER
FORWARDS
Connor Menadue (Richmond) $3,800
Menadue has been delivering solid value so far this season without knocking it out of the park. He should relish the opportunity to play on the wing at Subiaco. Plenty of space will allow him to flourish and use his strengths. He’s a low risk option with a pretty high upside. Pair him with a more premium option and you’ll be laughing!
Marc LeCras (West Coast) $6,900
The Frenchman has been solid without a signature performance so far in 2016. We like him tonight because the Tigers have handled the key forwards well this year and it’s been the mid-sized players that have cut them up. We are happy to fade Josh Kennedy given he has to play on Alex Rance tonight.
RUCKS
Nic Naitanui (West Coast) $7,500
Despite a solid fantasy game from Shaun Hampson last week we like NicNat tonight. He should be too athletic for Hampson and dominate not only in the air but when the ball hits the ground as well. Back at home where he plays his best footy we think he’s close to a good thing for x15 value which for a player of his price is a great lineup starting point!
MIDS
Kane Lambert (Richmond) $5,400
Lambert is still underpriced and is averaging x20 production this season so far. He’s a favourite of coach Damien Hardwick and will get all the run he can handle across half forward and the midfield tonight. He’s a player who seems to still have plenty of upside and might yet develop into a top tier mid. His true price should be closer to $7,000 and we are happy to play him until it gets there.
Andrew Gaff (West Coast) $8,500
Gaff looks to be the safest pick of the three West Cost premium mids (Shuey, Priddis and Gaff). The wide open spaces of Subi suit his game style well and he has been ultra consistent this season although falling below x15 production. We are a bit worried about Priddis tonight who comes in under an injury cloud so Gaff is the man!
**Our two sneaky low ownership high upside guys at Midfield tonight are Chris Masten (West Coast) and Shane Edwards (Richmond). We’ll be dropping them in a few lineups but will not play them both in the same team.
DEFENDERS
Shannon Hurn (West Coast) $5,300
Tough day to find any great value or upside on the defensive end. We’ve landed on Hurn who has been slightly down on what he is truly capable of thus far this season and back on his home ground can hopefully crack 20 possessions. We know he uses it well and kicks it a lot, he just needs to get the footy in his hands!
Bachar Houli (Richmond) $7,700
Our premium selection down back is Bachar Houli once again. He scored 150 fantasy points last week and is probably the safest pick on the Tigers board tonight. He should appreciate the open spaces of Subiaco and accumulate 25+ possessions again.
