Fresh from Fantasy Stars, our tips, hints and advice for Friday Night DFS!
SUMMARY
A balmy evening at the Melbourne Cricket Ground where Richmond will try and beat Collingwood for the third consecutive time. A feat they haven’t completed since 2001-02.
Despite some injuries still lingering to key players, the Tigers will go into the game as warm favourites ($1.65 H2H). The Magpies were awfully disappointing last week and you have to wonder how much impact the drug saga has had on the players.
The Magpies were awfully disappointing last week and you have to wonder how much impact the drug saga has had on the players. Clokes form and Swanny’s injury aren’t the only issues with the Smith St clan at the moment.
Moneyball’s $5,000 bank (just a $10 entry) is a must! In the single slate AFL contests last week participants needed to average a little over 15x per player for the win.
In the single slate AFL contests last week participants needed to average a little over 15x per player for the win. Worth keeping in mind when assessing your picks for today.
As you would have noticed last week it’s pretty tough to play too many cheaper options and fill your salary cap. Don’t be scared to leave some cash in the bank if you think you’ve got players at cheaper prices that can beat the so called ‘studs’. Especially in GPP play!
TEAM NEWS
**Note that Ben Reid comes back into the Collingwood side and is listed above at Centre Half Back. While he looks likely to play down back tonight he is actually listed as a Forward on Moneyball and a great price at just $3,600!
FANTASY STARS PLAYERS TO CONSIDER
FORWARDS
Jack Riewoldt (Richmond) $6,700
Only two goals for J-Roo last week but he still produced a solid 92 fantasy points. That points to his maturity as a player, he now can impact games in many ways and doesn’t need to kick a bag to play well for the Tiges or for our DFS teams. 18 disposals, 6 marks and 3 tackles against the Blues to go with his 2 goals is a solid stat line. Of course, he can go off for 6 goals and a dozen marks on any given night and that upside makes him a good play against the fragile Magpies tonight.
Ben Reid (Collingwood) $3,600
We know the story with Reid, super talent who has battled a string of injuries. He will actually play across half-back tonight and the opportunity to play him as a Moneyball forward is too good to be true. $3,600 for a player with enormous upside. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him smash up x20 production tonight!
RUCKS
Shaun Hampson (Richmond) $3,500
Big Ivan Maric will miss this week as well for the Tigers making the Big +1 a must play in a good portion of your lineups. Hampson was ok for his price last week delivering x14 production. There is no reason why he can’t push past that figure and go closer to x20 with a few goals tonight.
Brodie Gundry (Collingwood) $7,400
Gundry had a shocker last week against the Swannies but many of the Magpies did. He is a DFS sleeper that produced 11 scores of 100 or greater last season. If you want to go for the premium option at the Ruck position look no further.
MIDS
Dustin Martin (Richmond) $8,000
Martin averaged 28 disposals and 121.5 fantasy points against the Magpies last season. He was relatively well held against the Blues last Friday night and with Deledio still on the sidelines the Tigers will need a big performance from one of their other A-List midfielders in Dusty tonight. His upside comes from the fact he can kick a bag of goals to go with 25+ disposals on any given day. Love those type players in AFL GPPs.
Adam Treloar (Collingwood) $8,400
He was a shining light against the Swans last weekend and with Sidebottom and Swan both missing from the Magpies 22 tonight he will need to be on song again. Tough to knock back Pendlebury who is a stud although at $9,300 he is yet to clear 100 fantasy points in 2016 (Two preseason games and Round one) and Treloar might be at sneaky low ownership levels.
Other mids on our radar tonight are: Levi Greenwood (in-form player with a point to prove), Kane Lambert (super last week) and Corey Ellis (Pendlebury 2:0 says a diehard Tigers fan).
DEFENDERS
Tom Langdon (Collingwood) $6,500
Out of all the Collingwood defenders Langdon looks to be the most consistent fantasy player you can plug into your lineup. Tough to get excited about many of these Magpie defenders tonight especially with Reid listed as a Forward. Perhaps Ben Sinclair has some high upside if this game is fast paced but we’d rather take our risks elsewhere.
Bachar Houli (Richmond) $7,200
Our premium selection down back is Bachar Houli. He was slightly down on his potential output last week with a serviceable 78 points. His ceiling is much higher though with 9 scores above 100 last season and in both preseason games this year he went above 116 fantasy points.
