Round 3 done and dusted! Time flies when you’re having fun. #AFLFantasy land once again was full of ups and downs over the weekend.
In previous weeks we’ve seen a lot of familiar faces dominating but this weekend there were some more random results and players with lower ownership levels going big.

Some great nominations here once again but we’ve given it to Nat Fyfe who was an absolute wrecking ball against the Suns!
160 SuperCoach points, 144 DT points.
Fyfe collected 38 disposals, made 8 tackles, had 14 clearances, 24 contested possessions, 7 inside 50’s and a goal to top it all off.

- The Baby Blues are battling… big time!
- Geelong and Hawthorn perhaps showed some ill-effects from that cracking game on Easter Monday. The Hawks lost to the Tigers while the Cats lost to the Eagles.
- Zach Merrett struggling for form and scoring poorly. Many coaches are looking to trade him out.
- Jack ‘Turbo’ Higgins debuted for the Tigers on Sunday and delivered an unforgettable post-match interview with Kelly Underwood (see below)

AFL Fantasy Casualty Ward
Thankfully, less action in the injury zone this week but the Cats who were already facing some injury battles were stung again.
- Garry Ablett (Geelong) hurt his hamstring in the Cats loss to the Eagles. He is expected to miss at least two games, potentially three or four.
- Geelong also lost Nakia Cockatoo (PCL) and Cam Guthrie (Ankle) during the game
- Rory Lobb (GWS) battled a left knee injury and must be in some doubt for this weeks game against Fremantle in Canberra. Dawson Simpson would likely come in for the Giants if Lobb is to miss.
- Caleb Marchbank (Carlton) hurt his ankle on Friday against the Pies which was a shame as he was one of few Blues who was playing well at the time. He was limping around at a VFL game on Saturday and must be in doubt for this weekend against North Melbourne in Tasmania.
- Liam Ryan (West Coast) was on crutches after Sunday’s win against Geelong. The severity of his ankle injury is yet to be determined.
Burning AFL Fantasy Question/s
1. Will Melbourne tag Tom Mitchell this week or will he just chalk 40+ touches and 130+ fantasy points
This guy is going straight to the fantasy football hall of fame and was the Hawks best player clearly in their loss to the Tigers yesterday.
The chat on social media has started about this coming weeks match with Melbourne and whether Simon Goodwin will apply a hard tag on Titch.
2. Can Zach Merrett shake his slump?
While it may not explain fully why he has been down on his normal output, it is worth mentioning that Merrett did cop a serious knock in Round 1 against the Crows when he was ruled out with a concussion.
He has had a number of instances over the past few years with concussions and there is a chance the mental side of overcoming and dealing with the repeat head injuries is plaguing him. The negative effects of concussions is more recognized these days than it ever has and it is perhaps hampering Merrett. Something to consider anyway!
